HUNTSVILLE, AL – HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Aurex has been selected as one of six companies awarded a position under the Joint Hypersonics Transition Office’s S2MARTS Other Transaction Agreement, a critical vehicle accelerating the development and transition of next-generation hypersonic technologies.
The award places Aurex at the center of one of the nation’s highest defense priorities. As global competitors rapidly advance high-speed weapons capable of operating at speeds exceeding Mach 5, the U.S. Defense Department is moving with urgency to compress timelines, mature technologies, and deliver operational capability. The S2MARTS OTA is designed to do exactly that.
Aurex will support research, development, prototyping, and transition efforts aligned with the Department’s accelerated hypersonics strategy, helping move breakthrough technologies from concept to capability.
“This is a defining moment in the hypersonics race,” said Warren S. Kohm, Chief Executive Officer of Aurex. “The Department is demanding speed, precision, and execution. Our selection under S2MARTS reflects confidence in Aurex’s ability to deliver advanced systems that strengthen deterrence and maintain U.S. technological advantage.”
The S2MARTS OTA streamlines collaboration between government and industry, enabling rapid prototyping and faster fielding of critical capabilities. By reducing traditional acquisition barriers, the vehicle empowers high-performing companies to move at the pace of mission.
This award builds on Aurex’s expanding portfolio of strategic defense programs, including its recent selection under the Missile Defense Agency’s SHIELD $151B IDIQ contract. Together, these milestones reinforce Aurex’s growing role in advancing missile defense, space systems, and next-generation deterrence technologies.
As the Department intensifies investment in advanced propulsion, materials, guidance, and systems integration for hypersonic platforms, Aurex brings deep engineering expertise and mission-focused execution to support national security at speed and scale.
